Meet Me

I’m so glad you are here.

My name is Theresa. I am the founder of Sun Kissed Kids LLC.

I grew up in the pacific northwest and spent most of my life there. I was homeschooled and have always homeschooled my children except for a very brief stint in public school.

I have a long background in Education. I majored in Elementary Education and obtained endorsements in Teaching Reading and Special Education K-12 from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.

Right out of college I worked for Migrant Head Start as a four year old teacher. It was a joy.

Next I moved to Honduras where I tutored four children of a Canadian missionary family. From there I moved to Costa Rica where I taught preschool through 11th grade English for four years.

When I returned to my hometown in Washington State I worked for a non profit providing Early Intervention services for birth to three as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and a Family Resources Coordinator. From there I went to teaching full day kindergarten before moving to our districts homeschool parent partnership where I taught kindergarten and K-12 special education and also supported families as their student learning plan coordinator.

In 2022 our family relocated from Washington State to Buckeye Arizona. We have three children who we homeschool.

Even before we relocated I began searching for an outdoor school in the area similar to what we had in Washington state, but I couldn’t find anything. Recently a few options have opened up with in 45 minutes of Buckeye and we are grateful for that. Last year I began searching for a preschool option for my three year old in Buckeye that aligned with my philosophy for early childhood. Especially when it came to letting children be children and developmentally appropriate academics. I wanted him to have a preschool experience but I didn’t want him gone everyday!

For the last two years I have been offering reading tutoring and pop up classes out of my home as an ESA vendor. I love offering Barton Reading and Spelling because it is life changing for children who have struggled with reading.

I love All About Reading because I am a firm believer in quality over quantity when it comes to school work and it has really worked for my kids. I love all the hands on activities and I appreciate that there is no busy work.
